Phoenix soar over Hawks
Bath-The Hyde Phoenix (Class D) defeated the Sacopee Valley Hawks (Class C) by a score of 71-31 on Monday in Bath. Hyde got out quickly in the first quarter running the court on both ends. The Phoenix led 4-2 and then went on a 16-0 run behind full the full court pressure of Wondo Shaw, Talin Rowe and Wilson MacMillan. Consecutive baskets by Ryan Cassidy and a 3 point field goal by Wilson MacMillan put the Phoenix up for good. Ryan Cassidy scored 10 of his game high 16 points in the 1st quarter as Hyde led 26-4. The Phoenix were able to extend their lead to 23 and led 35 to 12 at half.
Warsame Mohamed (5 steals) playing limited minutes score 10 for Hyde. Talin Rowe (5 steals, 4 assists) and Evander Lenardson each scored 8 points off the bench.
Hyde was able to extend its lead to 56-19 after 3 quarters. Ben Burlock had 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Wondo Shaw was able to provide some valuable defensive play and tallied 6 rebounds.
Blake Trueworthy paced the Hawks with 8 points. Alex Fenderson tallied 7 points. The win moved Hyde to 12-3 on the season.
