On the last Wednesday of January, the Wolfpack traveled to Rhode Island to take on Portsmouth Abbey’s JV squad. The Wolfpack jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead behind a tenacious defensive effort that turned into an efficient offense, converting turnovers into fast break points. Joey Fan ’13 and Kenny Zhang ’14 played with hustle and heart at establishing this defensive surge. The team never looked back after the strong start. Team co-captains Sam Valentine ’13 and John Nelson ’14 scored 19 and 10 points respectively, establishing the team’s offensive production. John Schaer ’14 provided key minutes off the bench scoring 4 points, including an impressive pull-up jumper from the wing. Kevin Ding ’13, Jake Hedrick ’14, and Omri West ’16 contributed 4, 3, and 4 points respectively, in addition to focused and efficient execution on both ends of the court. The team was thrilled to get back in win column after two tough losses, and we look forward to our game on Saturday against Masters.
