On Friday, January 25, the Hyde Boys JV Basketball team travelled to Marianapolis for a rematch of a hard-fought game from back in December. The loss to the Golden Knights before the winter break was a tough pill to swallow, and the Wolfpack had since marked this particular game on the schedule. Unfortunately, Hyde came out unprepared for Marianapolis’ physical defense and quick transition game, losing the contest 57 – 32. Beset by the loss of several key players to illness and injury, the Wolfpack struggled to effectively lock down the baseline position of the 1-3-1 defense, and gave up a number of uncontested layups as a result. The bulk of the team’s offense came from John Nelson ’14 (12 points), Sam Valentine ’13 (7 points), and Omri West ’16 (9 points). Jake Hedrick ’14 was constantly active on the defensive end, and junior Kenny Zhang played his best game to date.
The Wolfpack look to heal over the weekend in order to return to full strength when the team returns to practice on Monday.
