JV Wrestling Takes a Business Trip to Choate to Compete in 5 Team Meet:
The Wolfpack took a trip down to Choate Rosemary where we competed against Choate, Forman, Eagle Hill and Phillips Exeter Academy. The competition was very strong. It was clear that our team keeps improving with each match they have. I was very proud of their efforts as they fought hard in each one of their matches. Each wrestler had three to four matches. Standouts at this meet were: Leo Cao ’14 who won by points 5-2 in a hard fought battle against his opponent from Forman, Brendan Murray ’13 who pinned his opponent from Forman and Eagle Hill, Vaughan Blehl ’16 pinned his opponent from Forman, Sam Bell ’15 who pinned his opponent from Eagle Hill, and Greg Munetz ’13 who pinned his opponent from Eagle Hill.
JV Wrestling Travels to Compete in Tri-Meet at Milton Academy:
The Wolfpack crossed state lines to battle Hyde Bathe and Milton Academy. These were three teams that were all very evenly matched. The Wolfpack fell to Milton Academy but once again came out victorious against the Phoenix. We fell to Milton academy 29-35. Our standouts from this dual were Scott Leonard ’14 who pinned his opponent and Hagop Ahrens ’14 who beat his opponent 11-0. Other hard fought battles in this dual that did not go in our favor bought added to our point total were Mike Yao ’15 and Koray Altay ’15. In our dual versus rival Hyde Bathe we won 32-29. Wrestlers that came out on top were Luke Kyriazis ’14, Hagop Ahrens ’14, Dennis Cavalli ’15, Pat Kane ’13, all of whom pinned their opponents. Jack Yan ’13 also had one of his best take downs, however, the match had to end due to an injury. The JV Wrestling team continues to improve. They will go up against Pomfret School and Rectory on January 23.
