Wolfpack Thirds Shooting Struggles Continue

Hyde School: 26

Pomfret: 52

The Boys Thirds basketball team hosted Pomfret School on Wednesday, January 17th. This was the second time in little over a week that the Wolfpack battled against Pomfret. After a close first half, Pomfret blew the game wide open in the beginning of the second, downing the Thirds team 52-26. After a defensive struggle in the first half, the boys had the opportunity to go into the break down only two points, but multiple turnovers in the final minute left the Thirds Wolfpack chasing their tail and an eight point deficit at the half. Shooting woes were the theme of the second half as Pomfret capitalized on their ability to rebound Hyde shots that were refusing to fall.

Despite few points being scored for the home team, a couple players shined above all others. Drew Handley ’14 surprised his teammates and coach with his impressive 2 of 3 result from behind the arc, scoring 8 points. Jeremy Gu ’15 exhibited a tremendous knowledge of moving without the basketball. The Thirds team looks to overcome their second game of poor shooting against Valley View on Saturday, January 19th.
