Hyde Lady Phoenix Ferry Their Way to 8-0.
The Hyde School girls’ basketball team enjoyed quite the adventurous travel via bus and ferry to notch a hard fought 41 to 27 victory over the Islesboro Eagles. After overcoming a sluggish start and a slim 2 point halftime lead, the Phoenix took off, scoring 27 points in the second half. Once again, it was a true team effort as the scoring was evenly distributed among several players. Sr. Katie Comeaux scored 10 points featuring 2 clutch 3-pointers, and added 8 rebounds and 6 steals, while Sr. Kara Fischer scored 9 points and swiped 6 steals. Fr. Diamond Brown contributed a strong double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and So. Jailene Martinez had a fantastic first half with 8 points and 8 rebounds before being forced to the bench with foul trouble. A shout out goes to the Islesboro girls for playing a hard fought, scrappy game that truly tested the resilience of the Phoenix, but in the end the ladies from Hyde managed to ferry back with a victory.
Next up: Hyde at North Yarmouth Academy Friday, Jan. 11th.
