Bath: JV Ball v. Thorton Academy

On Saturday the Hyde JV Basketball Team a.k.a. “The Squad” took on Thorton Academy for the second time this year.  In our first meeting Thorton showed a strong offense.  They made a high percentage of their outside shots and got several offensive rebounds.  We left that game knowing that we had to address our defensive performance.  On Saturday we did just that, Hyde combined for over 20 steals, 9 of them attributed to Zach Heatley who also ended the day with 6 points.  Noah Horning led the squad with 11 points and was a big contributor to the defensive momentum.  After implementing a brand new defense 15 minutes before the game, we executed it flawlessly. The guards playing up front were aggressive and forced Thorton to make a lot of mistakes, while the big men down low boxed out and snagged the rebounds that came their way.  “The Squad” played as a unit and came away with one of many victories to be had this season.  The final score was 49-34.  Our next game is at Hebron on Wednesday.
