Some of Hyde-Bronx youngest students – 2nd and 3rd graders – ventured to Clearpool Educational Center in Carmel, NY with their families, teachers and Hyde Leadership high school mentors for a retreat on December 7-8, 2012.
The retreat focused on building strong family relationships and incorporating the Hyde words and principles into daily life. Parents reported increased feelings of confidence, safety and gratitude as the retreat concluded. Both courage and integrity earned top honors from parents as the words they expect to use most in their interactions with their children going forward.
The values of “Hyde Time”, working in teams and building new friendships were the major take-aways for participants, most of whom were attending their first overnight retreat with their students. Hats off to Denise Rivera, Director of the Family Education Department, K-8, Gisele Llerena, FED Events Coordinator, and high school interns John Garcia and Amber Lee Hernandez.
