Hyde – 53
Putnam Science – 29
The Boys 3rds basketball team opened their season against Putnam Science Academy. There was a great energy that preceded the matchup and their excitement spilled over onto the court with a dominating 53-29 victory. Beginning the game with a great defensive effort, Hyde was able to force multiple turnovers and raced out to a ten point lead. Smaller breakdowns defensively allowed Putnam Science to score more points in the second half, but Hyde was able to open up the offense and maintain a fairly stout defense overall. Scoring was led by junior point guard Justin Shulman with 15 points and senior forward Owen Jean-Jacques with 12 points. Other notable defensive efforts were Henry Rothenberg, Kevin Ge, and Matthew Linehan. Hyde has another contest against Portsmouth Abbey on the Woodstock campus before the students leave for their Winter break on Wednesday, December 12.
