Hyde School in Woodstock, CT is proud to announce that the Boys Varsity Football team was awarded a spot in the Dan Rorke Bowl for their success during the 2012 season.
The Dan Rorke Bowl is one of the five prep school bowls that occur each year. The participating teams for the five prep school bowls are decided based upon the records that teams have in their respective leagues.
Each bowl is named after a prep school coach or athletic director that has dedicated his career to prep school athletics and/or football. Dan Rorke was the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at the Brooks School from 1984-2004, and was inducted into the NEPSFCA Coaches Hall of Fame in 2008.
The Boys Varsity Football team finished their regular season this past Saturday with a key win of 55-28 against the Hyde-Bath squad. Their ending season record was 7-1.
“It is the first time that the Woodstock campus has received a bowl spot,” shared Director of Athletics and Head Varsity Football coach Sean Saucier. “We are very excited about this opportunity, as it speaks to the tenacity, camaraderie, and work ethic of this year’s team. I couldn’t be more proud of this group of young men.”
The Dan Rorke Bowl game will be played against St. Luke’s School on Saturday, November 17 at 12 pm. The game will be hosted by the Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, CT.
