This year’s SENE league meet was hosted at Williams School’s rugged course. All trail, steep rolling hills, and an uphill dash to the finish made for a challenging race for all competitors. Williams continued to dominate the league placing all 5 scoring runners in the top ten while Wheeler’s pack followed close behind. While we closed the gap with PCD when compared with recent races, we didn’t quite have what it takes to beat them. Hyde finished in the middle of the pack with a 4th place finish. Brendan Murray and Scott Leonard led the pack for Hyde. Both earned medals and for their 10th and 15th place finishes the equivalent of All SENE honors for the sport. Marcos Mercado, Matt Wysocki, and Sean McCrystal rounded out our scoring 5 in 23rd, 26th, and 31st in the field of 130 runners. Dylan Marx finished as our 6th runner earning him a spot on the varsity team for New England championship race this coming Saturday. Matt Marshall made an attempt to return to racing after taking two weeks to recover from an injury to his hip. While he was unable to race up front where he is normally found, he did have a great second and third mile after a rocky start. While he has earned a spot on the varsity squad it is uncertain whether he will be able to run. With one week to train, the team continues to improve, and has their sights set on a strong finish in the NEPSTA DIV Championship race.
