HYDE AGAIN!!! Phoenix Rise to the Occasion!
The Hyde Phoenix were spectacular today at the MAINE State Prep School XC Championship held at the University of Maine at Augusta.
They dominated the field of MAISAD Schools, capping off their two year run and defending their title as MAISAD Champions.
The first mile was action paced as Hyde’s Cody Mitchell battled Hebron’s Makoto Wantanabe and Seacoast runner Isaac LaCroix. The first mile split was 5:39 by the lead runners. Mitchell led his team to another championship, finishing 3rd overall with a time of 16:51 on the 3 mile course.
Hyde placed 4 runners in the top 10 and 5 in the top 11 to run away with the meet, defeating rival Gould Academy by 14 points. One of Hyde’s top runners, Isaac Preston was thought to challenge for the individual title
“I’m really proud of how my teammates came through today.” said Preston. “ I wasn’t able to really do my best because of my ankle. Those guys were incredible.” Preston finished 15th overall.

Isaac LaCroix outlasted last year’s champion Makoto Wantanabe winning with a time of 16:20. The top finisher for Gould Academy was Marcello Delucca 4th. Kents Hill’s Stuart Cole finished 6th.
Huskies bark loudly! Kents Hill Girls Win!
The Huskies of Kents Hill won their first XC MAISAD title ever by defeating Seacoast in a close contest. Led by freshman sensation Anne McKee who won with a time of 18:29, the Huskies were able to outlast their opponent in a knock down battle as each school traded finishers.
