Hyde – 3
Williams – 0
Led by a dominant first half, the Wolfpack shutout a gritty Williams squad 3-0 on a picturesque fall day in Woodstock. The Wolfpack, determined to bounce back from a rough 1-3 patch over the past four games, found the back of the net in the opening minutes of the game. Just four minutes into the opening frame, Feda Durisic capitalized on yet another Graham Davidson ’13 trademark throw-in when Durisic headed the ball past the Williams keeper for a 1-0 advantage. Minutes later, the Wolfpack applied some of what it worked on throughout the week in practice. Striker Yiren Jiang ’13 received the ball with his back to goal at the midfield stripe, laid it off to fellow striker Christian Ejiga ’13, who slotted a nifty through ball to midfielder Sean Kokdil ’13, who poked it past the Williams keeper for a 2-0 lead. The Wolfpack’s final strike on the day came with about fourteen minutes remaining in the first half off a corner kick. Senior midfielder Jared Larsen whipped in a bent ball to Graham Davidson’s head, who flicked it perfectly into the stride of midfielder Dawit Kiflemarian ’14, who slammed it home for a 3-0 Wolfpack lead.
While the level of play broke down in the second half, the solid backline of Davidson, Felipe Azevedo ’14, Feda Durisic ’14, and Toby Obayashi ’16 helped thwart any Williams attempts. A big congratulations goes out to senior netminder Nick Davis, who recorded his first shutout on the season.
At 8-6, the Wolfpack has little time to rest as it squares off against SENE foe St. Andrew’s at home on Monday, October 29 for a critical conference matchup.
