CVA traveled to Bath to play the Phoenix on our turf field on Saturday. The match was played under sunny warm conditions. Hyde’s Eduardo Gadsden`13 started the scoring in the 7th minute with a goal that he put away off a ball he snagged from the keeper’s save of a direct kick taken by Captain Ethan Morrow. Eight minutes later Morrow tallied an assist this time to Jamal Frazer-Borden`13 who scored on a nicely placed shot. In the 17th minute Wilson MacMillan`14 crossed a beautiful ball in to Ethan Morrow who deftly directed it to the back of the net to make it 3-0. Morrow scored another goal unassisted in the 20th minute after dribbling by the oppositions defenders and beating the keeper. Five minutes later Morrow shot a stinger that rung the post and popped out for Zack Heatley`14 to put away, earning him his first varsity goal. Morrow scored the sixth and final goal of the match on an unassisted play with just over 9 minutes remaining in the half.
The second half of play was largely dominated by Hyde’s midfield and defensive players controlling the pace and possession. However, CVA did not let up their efforts throughout the match and kept the intensity level high. Both goal keepers; Billy Martinez`13 and Alexi Philippoussis`15 did a nice job of preserving the shutout, as did the defensive team of Post Grad Sam Mann, Wilson MacMillan`14, Nabil Eshraghian`13 and Andrew Davis`15. Captain Ethan Morrow earned “man of the match” honors by directly contributing to every goal. Our next match is Wednesday at Gould Academy.
