Hyde Cross Country travelled to Marianapolis to compete against Williams, Worcester Academy, PCD, Winchendon, MacDuffie, and Putnam Science Academy. The team finished 6th Just behind Marianapolis and Winchendon and ahead of MacDuffie and PSA. The team had set a goal to finish fourth and chase after PCD but fell short. As has been the case frequently we were missing members of our team including 2 of our top seven with a third varsity runner taking it easy in the back of the pack due to injury. The remaining runners were led by Scott Leonard who completed the course in 19:15 a personal record for him by 40 seconds. Matt Wysocki also showed improvement completing the course in 20:20, as did Sean McCrystal who came closer to breaking the 21:00 mark. Edison Yin also took a big step forward in his attitude and effort, completing the course in around 31:00 an improvement of over 5 minutes from last week. The big picture for the meet was that while the guys didn’t perform as well as they would like to have, the effort was excellent, and they are beginning to rediscover the attitude that was bringing them success early in the season. Wish them luck in their next race at Pomfret School.
