The cross country team traveled to St. Andrew’s for the Jacober Invitational a meet that brought together 9 teams from the SENE to compete just more than a week before the conference championship. NEPSTA DIV favorites Williams continued to dominate the competition, followed by Wheeler, PCD, and Hyde in 4th place. This was a strong showing for our team as we are getting back to the attitude and consistency that made us a presence early in the season. Brendan Murray led our squad placing 5th in the field of 125 athletes. His time of 18:45 shows he is getting back on track in working towards the goal of an All New England finish at the end of the season. Scott Leonard took 16th place in 19:15 tying his previous personal record almost exactly. Strong finishes from Marcos Mercado, Matt Wysocki, and Sean McCrystal helped to round out the scoring 5 and push us ahead of Marianapolis for the first time this season. Donald Anthony was our most improved runner dropping his time down to 25:49, the fastest he has been this season by at least a minute. As we gear up in this final week of the SENE conference season we hope to see the return of Matt Marshall and Andrew Moran to peak form. This would significantly improve the depth of our varsity seven and help us make a run at PCD and Wheeler, two very strong competitors, who we have set our sights on competing with next Friday for the championship race at Williams.
