Proctor (4-0) 57
Hyde (3-1) 21
The Wolf pack football team hit the road once again on Saturday and traveled to Andover, New Hampshire, to take on the Proctor Academy Hornets. It was a battle of undefeated teams, both sitting at 3-0. It was a perfect fall day and a perfect day for football.
Proctor came out of the gates strong and scored on their opening possession. Then, a Hyde miscue deep in their own territory gave Proctor a short field and the Hornets quickly capitalized and went up 14-0. Hyde settled down and put together a great drive which was finished off by tailback Jay Watkins ’13 (his eleventh of the season) to make it 14-7. After that score, Proctor went on a bit of tear and rattled of three more scores in the second quarter to take a 36-7 lead into halftime.
Hyde responded well after the half and came out playing tough and physical football. The Wolf pack found the end-zone twice more in the third quarter. Senior Conor McLaughlin ’13 ran in a score and post graduate Don-Don Palmer ’13 threw a long pass and hit junior Kyle O’Keefe ’14 in stride for a 60 yard scoring strike. Kicker Ben Krassner ’13 was three for three on extra point tries.
Defensive player of the game was senior Joe Yanovitch ’13. Joe did an awesome job slowing down Proctor’s grinding double wing attack and also forced two fumbles.
Hyde looks forward to playing home on Friday night, October 19th, at 7:00pm when they take on the Hebron Academy Lumberjacks under the lights for Family Weekend.
