Hyde School, Bath 5
Hyde School, Woodstock (0-8) 0
The girls of Woodstock, CT took the long ride to Bath, ME on Saturday for the annual Hyde School showdown. There was a lot of hustle from both teams from the beginning. Amelia Lyle ‘14 showed a lot of determination and heart in her usual midfield position. Most of the first half of the game was played in Woodstock’s half of the field. The score reflected this as halftime started with a comfortable 4-0 lead for Bath.
The girls from the Hyde Woodstock Campus tried to give Bath a hard second half. They held Bath to only one goal and had several scoring opportunities of their own. Janicha Diaz ‘14 was playing forward and was accompanied by a newcomer to varsity, Virginia Garrity ‘14. Both players were frustrated to leave the game scoreless. Most of all, you could see the frustration from Marlena Reeves ‘14, who had her best game of the season. She seemed to be every on field.
Sarah Gaebe ‘15 played her second full game of the season in goal and did a fantastic job. She earns her spot on varsity more and more as the season progresses. It was also great to see players such as Nicola Gomez ‘13 and Hannah Peters ‘13 shine in new positions. The Woodstock Campus of Hyde School is slowly discovering their talent off the bench. It will be exciting to see if the girls can put a win together on Wednesday, as the entire team will be healthy and ready to play.
