Hyde – 6
Rocky Hill – 1
In its most dominant performance of the season, the Hyde Wolfpack played its best soccer of the fall in a convincing 6-1 defeat of SENE rival Rocky Hill. Playing its third game in three days, the Wolfpack was eager to jump on the scoreboard early. Just five minutes into the match, senior striker Sean Kokdil was taken down inside the penalty box, setting up a perfect opportunity to take an early lead. Kokdil stepped up to the penalty stripe and ripped a low shot tucked just inside the right post for an early 1-0 advantage. Although the Wolfpack controlled the field for the next fifteen minutes, Rocky Hill found an equalizer with twenty minutes remaining off a nifty finish from a driven ball that caught Hyde’s goalkeeper Parker Roma ’14 off his line. This would be the only time on the day when Roma would be beaten as he had another stellar day in net. With just five minutes remaining in the first frame, the Wolfpack struck twice. Central defender Graham Davidson hammered home a beautiful header off a perfect corner kick pass from fellow senior Jared Larsen for a 2-1 lead. Davidson set up another goal with just under ten seconds left in the half when one of his trademark throw-ins fell to the feet of junior midfielder Jake Hedrick, who knocked home his second goal in two games for a 3-1 halftime lead.
The second half saw the Wolfpack play its most beautiful football of the season as it maintained possession throughout the final forty minutes. Striker Sean Kokdil found the back of the net two more times, to finish off his second hat-trick of the season, while senior midfielder Will Davis also got on the scoreboard to round out Hyde’s scoring with a 6-1 emphatic win. Defenders Davidson and Felipe Azevedo were dominant on the day, while holding central midfielder Jake Hedrick played his best game of the season.
After a week that had the Wolfpack, 6-3, play 4 matches, Hyde is eager to get back onto the practice field to prepare for a big weekend when it plays at Hyde-Bath on Friday and at Dexter School on Saturday.
