Boys JV Soccer Takes on Valley View, STM

10/6: Hyde Boys JV Soccer vs. Valley View: 0-0 Tie (1-5-2 WIN-LOSS-TIE)

Boys JV soccer tied Valley View, 0-0, Saturday on a gorgeous fall afternoon. Despite the tie, the team played its best game of the season so far, demonstrating increased skill level and technique. The team showed impressive awareness of the field and each other, working the ball and passing it to open players. Richard Tang ’15 and Leo Wang ’15 both had their best games so far, making controlled passes and helping to ensure movement up the field. Hyde’s defense worked well as a cohesive unit, sliding to support movement up the side. Justin Ashkin ’14 was the man of the match, showing outstanding speed and control in getting balls away from Valley View’s offense. Justin and Kevin Ding ’13 worked well together leading Hyde’s attack. Hyde’s offense, particularly John Schaer ’14, had many excellent shots on goal. Chris Kerdavid ’16, Lucas Richards ’14, and Danny Shaw-Vincente ’15 all stepped in to play valuable minutes at midfield, keeping the ball forward and aiding our offensive attack.

 

10/4: Hyde Boys JV  Soccer @ St. Thomas More: 1-0 Win (1-5-1 WIN-LOSS-TIE)

Boys JV soccer had its first win of the season Thursday against St. Thomas More. Much like our previous match up, Hyde maintained strong offensive pressure throughout both halves of the game. John Schaer ’14 helped energize the team after scoring an early goal off a penalty kick. Nick Davis ’13 made some impressive saves and played a great game in goal. Hyde’s defense showed improvement in their ability to make controlled passes up the field.
