Monday September 24, 2012

At St. Andrew’s

Hyde School – 2
St. Andrew’s – 3

The Hyde Varsity Girls Soccer Team lost another tough game Monday. This time it was at St. Andrew’s. The final score was 3-2. Although the team’s record drops to 0-3, spirits remain high, as the girls look at the highlights of the close loss. In particular, the team welcomed Marcy Altobella back as she directed the defense from her sweeper position. Her leadership was what helped keep the girls in the game.

The ladies of Hyde started the game strong with a goal by Samri Krogmann, assisted by Janicha Diaz. They remained aggressive but were beat in the backfield, as St. Andrew’s scored three unanswered goals before halftime. Both teams were very aggressive in the first half, which set up for an interesting second half.

The communication and determination was apparent on both sides of the field, as the second half commenced. The Hyde defense held strong, not allowing any goals in the second half. With less than three minutes left in the game, the WolfPack dug deeper and came together for one last shot at victory. Sam Frisoli connected with Janicha Diaz to make it 3-2, shifting the momentum towards Hyde. With less than 30 seconds, Hyde had a breakaway chance for a goal but they were unable to capitalize. The ladies of Hyde left the field with the feeling of unfinished business. The 3-2 loss will be remembered when the two teams face again for their last game of the regular season. For now, Hyde will prepare for back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday where they hope to capture their first win.
