Bath: GVS vs. Tilton

September 15, 2012

Hyde – 0

Tilton – 4

The Hyde girls travelled through a picture perfect fall day to Tilton, NH for their second match of the season.  A week prior they were unable to finish a pre-season match during the Berwick Jamboree due to a Tilton injury.  Though down 1-0, Hyde was gaining momentum and it appeared to be an even match.

Saturday’s result was not as close.  The Phoenix were missing four of their starting players and had to enlist the help of two junior varsity players.  Despite this fact, the team learned from the flat start with Berwick and came out much stronger at the opening whistle.  Carolyn Moore ’14 stepped in at sweeper and battled against an incredibly talented Tilton striker.  Goalkeeper Katie Comeaux ’13 played an outstanding game with several key saves and a strong performance off her goal line.  The Tilton efforts proved too strong and by half, the Phoenix were down 3-0.  Once again, the team rallied during the second half and held Tilton to one additional goal.  Junior varsity players Katarina Ellison ’14 and freshman Chloe Blaylock ’16 did an excellent job helping the squad in the mid-field.  Overall the Hyde team played hard and looks forward to opening MAISAD play at home on Saturday against Hebron Academy.
