Boys JV Soccer Ties MPS in Season Opener

Hyde Boys JV Soccer at Marianaoplis: 2-2 Tie; Season 0-1-0

Boys JV soccer tied Marianapolis 2-2 this afternoon. Supported by a strong defensive line-up, led by Leo Cao ’14 and Tony Shao ’13, the team demonstrated and continued to hone skills of clearing and communication against Marianapolis’s offense. Our two keepers, Evan Berger ’15 and Vaughn Blehl ’16, showed determination, promise, and room for growth in goal. Both will be valuable assets for the team throughout the rest of our season. Our attack, driven in large part by the speed and tirelessness of John Schaer ’14 and Richard Tang ’15 as center midfielders, stepped up their energy in the second half, demonstrating greater ball control and spatial awareness. Alex Appel ’16 and Dan Shaw-Vincente ’15 played valuable minutes, holding off Marianapolis while the team rested and organized its starters. Working together as a unified offense, Clement Hong ’16 and Jerry Wang ’16 were both able to penetrate the Marianapolis defense and score for Hyde.
