Wolfpack Varsity Lax Takes on STM, 19-5

Hyde: 19

 St Thomas Moore: 5

Hyde traveled to St. Thomas Moore today for an SENE conference game in Norwich, Ct. It was “ALL” Hyde from the start. Danny Gill ’12 took the opening  face-off and turned it into a fast break opportunity and set-up Kevin McMorrow ’12 for a quick goal 16 seconds into the contest. Minutes later,

Alex Holland ’13 found the back of the net and Hyde was up 2-0 in the opening minutes of the game. Soon after, goals by Jared Larsen ’13, Joe Yanovitch ’13 and Gill ’12 allowed Hyde to finish out the first quarter ahead 9-0. In the second quarter, the Hyde defense lead by goalie Blake Smaldone ’12 saw little action because of the offensive ball possession by the Wolf Pack but some key groundball play from Rob O’Connor ’13 and defensive middies Zack Cereme ’12 and Ethan Thoms ’12 allowed Hyde to go into halftime with an 11-4 lead. The second half was much of the same and Hyde was able to capitalize on St. Thomas Moore’s turnovers and cruised to victory 19-5. Next up a battle for bragging rights in the “quiet corner” vs. Pomfret.
