Jon lee`12 played an opponent with which he has a lot of history. He split matches with him last season, and defeated the Kents Hill rival in the finals of the MAISAD tourney last spring. Unfortunately, Jon struggled to find his stride early on in this one. He lost the first set with many games going to deuce. He came back in the second set and was successful in temporally turning the tides and winning the second set. However, the Kents Hill player came out strong in the third set and caught Jon off balance by unleashing some big first serves that he hadn’t used previously, beating Jon in straight games. Ignacio Sanchez`13 and Brian Liu`12 both struggled with adjusting to playing outside on a hard courts opposed to our much faster indoor surface. Zach Leighninger`13 and Ethan Blatt`13 played many games to deuce in their contest, but fell in straight sets. Nicky Li`13 and Herman Gao`12 were out gunned in their match. Their opponents both had strong first serves which kept them on the defensive for a majority of the match. They both buckled down during the second set and by focusing on coming to net more were able to win a couple of games. It was a tough day for the team and exposed some weaknesses that we can work to improve.
