Kents Hill 9
In their second MAISAD game of the season, Hyde took on Kents Hill School in a home contest last Friday. While the Phoenix team completed many of their lacrosse-based goals in their previous game against Hebron, the challenge posed to the team before this competition was to play with a heightened sense of heart, spirit, and courage. Although Hyde lost the game, they embraced the challenge and they brought a new grit and determination to the game. Scotty Bartlett (’12), Zach Tolman (’12), and Ryan Cassidy (’13) were key contributors to the physicality and hustle. Wes Miller (’14) continues to progress and he has made himself a valuable contributor to the team through a solid work ethic and a nose for ground balls and clearing.
The Phoenix continued to struggle to produce points, especially with the absence of leading scorer Chester Hill on Friday. Helping to fill the void was Jamal Frazier-Borden (’13) who diced the defense on multiple occasions with some nifty dodging and found the back of the goal twice. Also scoring was lefty midfielder, Tyquan Ekejiuba (’13). Hyde faces the tough task of playing at Cape Elizabeth on Tuesday of this week and then they Battle their sister school, Woodstock, in an evening showdown this Friday.
