Bath: Varsity Lacrosse falls to Waynflete

Hyde: 7

Waynflete: 12

Waynflete School traveled up from Portland on Wednesday and handed the Phoenix their first loss of the season.  Despite gaining an early lead and an abundance of young players stepping up, Hyde could not withstand the surging Flyers.  In his second game ever, Tyquan Ekejiuba (’13) beat the keeper twice with strong left-handed bounce shots and also tacked on an assist to his solid performance.  Accompanying Tyquan with 2 goals on the day was another lefty, Evander Lenardson (’14) who scored from the attack position.  Midfielders Nabil Eshraghian (’13) and Wesley Miller (’14) added to the effort as they found the net for the first time this season.

Several members of the Hyde squad, including Wilson MacMillan (’14), Jamal Frazer-Borden (’13), Scotty Bartlett (’12) and Zach Tolman (’12), gave great individual hustle all over the turf Wednesday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to stop Waynflete.  The Phoenix look to grow as a unit and solidify their team play as they head into a Jamboree at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland on Saturday. They will face Deering (1 PM), Portland (3 PM), and Fryeburg (4 PM).
