On Wednesday, April 4th the Women’s Varsity Lacrosse team hosted Waynflete in their second non-league scrimmage of the season. Waynflete came out strong and never backed down; their speed, stick skills and knowledge of the game provided the Phoenix with an opportunity to practice team defense against a more talented and experienced team. Those Hyde players who rose to the challenge improved their fitness and resilience in this game. Junior goalie Caroline Hammond overcame some adversity, keeping her composure to collect 7 saves. Junior Amy Ginsberg started to show her stuff in the center circle, winning three Draw Controls in a row. As a freshman brand new to the sport, Jailene Martinez showed hustle and a great learning attitude throughout the contest, impressing her coaches. Defense and transitioning through the midfield will be key foci in practice these next couple of days as the team prepares to take on rival Hebron Academy in their first MPA contest of the season this Saturday, April 7th.
