Disappointing Loss for Wolfpack Thirds Basketball vs. Valley View

Valley View School – 41

Hyde Woodstock – 19

The boys 3rds basketball team closed out their 2012  season with a disappointing away loss to Valley View on Saturday afternoon.  The Wolfpack’s defense – typically a strong point of the team’s play – was unsteady, with most perimeter shots going uncontested and a quick accumulation of fouls due to lazy footwork.  At the other end of the court, Van Zhao ’14 (six points), Jack Yan ’13 (five points) and Sam Debassey ’13 (five points) carried the bulk of the Wolfpack’s offensive production, but overall, they were unable to fill the void left by the absence of leading scorer, Apache He ‘12.  If there was a highlight to be found, it was in the fourth-quarter play of Debassey, Quinn McGuire ’15, Ethan Goldberg ’15, Tyler Jenkins ’15, and Jordan Spivak ’14.  With the outcome of the game all but decided, these five substitutes came on to put together their best individual minutes of the season.  Coaches Aronski and Gaines want to congratulate the team on a productive season and look forward to a new Spring season.
