Hyde School 46
Wheeler School 40
On Friday, the boys J.V. traveled to Rhode Island to take on Wheeler for the second time on their court this season. Although the team fell behind early, by halftime they had taken control of the game and went into the half up seven, 22-15. Wheeler made a run in the second half and closed the gap to one point but Hyde was able to hold them off for the six point victory. Improved defense and the ability to break the press were the keys to the game for Hyde.
Scoring was as follows: Stanley Yao had 20 points; Rodney Felder, 4; Dan Weintraub, 7; Parker Vaughn, 1; Sam Valentine, 12; and Jason Zhao, 2.

Hyde School 47
Masters School 55
On Saturday, the boys J.V. hosted Master’s School of West Simsbury, CT. Master’s had a very talented team and Hyde fell behind early. One player for Master’s had 19 points in the first half. It was the Wolfpack’s mission in the second half to stop that player and the team executed a box-and-one defense. The plan worked and Hyde was able to close the 14 point halftime deficit to four points with only a couple minutes left in the game. Unfortunately for Hyde, Master’s free-throw shooting was sound and they were able to hold on and secure an eight point win. Rob O’Connor was responsible for the defense that shut down Master’s top scorer in the second half.
Scoring was as follows: Sam Valentine, 12; Griffin Davidson, 7; Jason Zhao, 2; John Nelson, 2; Rob O’Connor, 2; Dan Weintraub, 10; Stanley Yao, 9; and Rodney Felder, 3.
Hyde’s record is now 5-7 and they look to inch closer to .500 as they travel on Wednesday to take on St. Thomas More.
