Wolfpack Boys Varsity BBall Winning Streak Continues

Saturday 10, December

Portsmouth Abbey:        25

Hyde Woodstock:       68

Boys Varsity Basketball improved to 5-0 on the season in a decisive forty-three point victory against Portsmouth Abbey.  Hyde’s defensive pressure created turnovers, steals, and deflections, leading to a twenty-five point run before the opposition scored.  Christian Ejiga ’13 dominated the paint against Abbey’s tall forwards and quick guards, blocking five shots, collecting six rebounds, and scoring thirteen points off of layups. Rob Lewis ’12 and Nasir Ibrahim ’12 converted nine steals into seventeen and eleven points each, while Jahvaney Beckford ’13 scored fourteen points on sixty-three percent shooting.  Hyde’s bench again logged extra minutes in the first half, and the team took a thirty-nine to twelve point lead into the locker-room.  The second half saw alternating groups of starters and bench players work on offensive sets.  However, after Lewis twice stole the ball and dunked, both sides called on their reserves to finish the game.  The Hyde Wolf Pack plays against local rival and basketball powerhouse, Putnam Science Academy, on Monday 12, December.
