Tough Loss to CA for Wolfpack GJV Soccer

Hyde Woodstock vs. Concord Academy, October 12, 2011

Hyde Wolfpack- 0
Concord Academy-5

The junior varsity girls soccer team traveled to Concord Academy Saturday October 8th. In a tough game, the Hyde team showed determination and strength against a more experienced opponent. The Wolfpack came out strong in the first half; working together and talking on the field helped create the opportunity for Yichao Hu ’12 to get a shot on goal. Hyde fell behind by three in the first half but never lost heart.

After a good team talk the team came out with renewed energy. The Wolfpack pulled together to create more opportunities and move the ball out of their half of the field, even with sweeper Naiwen Zhang ’13 unable to play because of an ankle injury received during the first half of play. The girls showed great strength and courage playing through injury as more players came out of the game injured as time went on. Both Yoomi Ji ’13 and Jing Yang’13 returned to play after receiving shots to the face and being taken out of the game. Jenna Kowalski ’13 had a stand out performance in goal and Johanna Mather ’13 showed great instinct in a new position at stopper. Even with a few more shots on goal from Hu and Samantha Frisoli ’16, Hyde was unable to find the net and came away with a 5-0 loss.

The team looks forward to their games against Marianapolis and hopes to have fewer players injured going into their remaining games.
