This annual invitational was an opportunity to see the SENE field on the course where the championship race will be hosted next Friday. The meet was hosted by St. Andrews, and attended by PCD, Wheeler, Williams, Rocky Hill, St. Thomas More, and Marianapolis. The Hyde team was missing a top 5 runner and ran with the plan of having our top runner take things slow as he continues to work through an injured hip. The guys we did have there put in an excellent effort and pulled off a 4th place team finish in the field of 8. They finished only 9 points out from 3rd place team Wheeler.
Brendan Murray ‘13 led the team with a 6th place finish overall completing the course in 19:13 only one second away from winning a shirt for 5th. Following behind was senior Nick Dresch who ran the course in 19:50. This is a drop of from his usual times but it was promising to see him hit his stride in portions of the race and work through some of the discomfort of an injury. Zack Cerame ’12wasn’t far off having run the course in 20:01 and finishing in 17th place in a field of 95 athletes. While all of our guys ran well, the greatest improvement would have to go to Tyler Jenkins who worked his time down to 23:57. Over the course of the season Tyler has brought his time down more than five minutes. He has shown that hard work pays off and hopefully they will collect on the tremendous work they have put in this season, next Friday at the SENE Championship.
This Saturday they will run against Pomfret on their very challenging course. Wish them luck!
