At Hyde Bath
Yesterday the Hyde Woodstock Boys Junior Varsity Soccer Team traveled up to Hyde Bath to face the Phoenix. It was a tough battle, but the Wolfpack took home their sixth win in a roll. Woohoo! Our scorers were Joseph Guerin’14 and Paul Pan’12. Joe scored in the first half, and Paul broke the tie in the second half when he took a successful headshot from a corner kick delivered by Joe.
Some highlights of the game were our goalie Nick Davis’13, our youngest player Kevin Choi’15, veteran sweeper Jerry Su’12, as well as, Kevin Ding’13 and Owen Jean-Jacque’13. Nick Davis made two crucial saves that really speak to his commitment to the Boys Junior Varsity Soccer team. Nike’s focus in this game has also been exceptional. Kevin Choi has a spark in him when he is on the field. Even though he is petite compared to the other players on the team, his constant and consistent effort in each game deserves recognition. Jerry Su when at his best is a very reliable sweeper and leader on the field. However, sometimes his focus could get swayed and he would make mistakes that otherwise could have been avoided. Kevin Ding is a very consistent and quiet player that always gives his best in each game. Last but not least, Owen Jean-Jacque’13 has made great strides in terms of his attitude in many areas this year. He also played an integral role in the defense yesterday. Keep up the good work, Owen!
Overall, the Wolfpack demonstrated good effort and persistence in this game. Looking forward, the Wolfpack will need to work on the corner kicks, shots, as well as communication if they are going to bring the victory back next Saturday with the Williams School.
