Hyde – 0

Richmond – 7

The Hyde Phoenix travelled to Richmond to play an out of league game against a talented MPA team.  Without their starting keeper and other formation adjustments, Hyde scrambled to find their pace and game.  Richmond scored early and kept firing, creating a 5-0 lead at halftime.  Back Mady Preece ’13 battled hard against a very talented striker and was able to turn several attempts away with great sportsmanship and spirit.  The second half was an improvement and despite continued pressure from the Richmond starters, Katie Comeaux ’13 was able to make several saves in goal.  Captain Zaji Lieberman ’12 worked hard to mark and shut down key players and despite an injury from a tough tackle, returned to the game and finished strong.  Though outmatched, the Hyde team played with determination and spirit and left the field with heads high.

Hyde Bath – 4

Hyde Woodstock – 1

What appears to be a yearly swapping of wins, continued on Saturday as the Hyde Phoenix beat their sister school Woodstock.  After the long ride southwest, the team took the field, eagerly shaking off the ride.  After a tough loss to Richmond earlier in the week, the team had redemption on their minds.  The first half was dominated by Bath with Woodstock having only one shot on goal.  Despite several near misses, Bath was only able to net one in the first half.  After 13 minutes of play, Cat Vidal ’12 fed a great ball to Dexie Cercos ’12 at the top of the box who shot past the keeper for the first goal of the game.  The Phoenix kept the pressure on to the half time whistle.  The second half opened with a quick goal from forward Cat Vidal ’12.  Merely 2 minutes in to the half, she carried the ball from just over half to inside the box shooting low on the nearside post.  The Woodstock team kept fighting and despite Bath’s dominant play, the Wolfpack were able to penetrate and capitalize on a scramble scoring their first and only goal of the game.  Bath would go on to score two more goals.  Dexie Cercos ’12 scored a fantastic header from Carolyn Moore ’14 on a corner kick and Caroline Hammond ’12 was able to capitalize on a deep throw in that left her one on one with the Woodstock keeper.  Hyde’s back and mid-field were solid with outstanding play from Tandis Rafii ’12, Zaji Lieberman ’12 and Katie Comeaux ’13.  The team goes on to host CVA this Wednesday.
