Boys JV Soccer October 12, 2011
Hyde – 3
Valley View – 0
After an opening 5 minutes that lacked focus and composure, the Hyde Boys JV soccer team pulled themselves together to post an impressive 3-0 win over visiting Valley View School. First half goals from Joseph Guerin ’14 and Paul Pan ’12 (his first of the year) gave the Wolf Pack a 2-0 halftime lead. Yiren Jiang ’13 added a second-half tally when a smart lead pass from Kevin Ding ‘14 led to a one-on-one with the opposing goal keeper. The defense was a bit shaky at times, but put together a strong enough effort to keep Valley View scoreless. Nick Davis ’13 was only tested a few times in goal, but took care of everything that came his way. Tom Rushin ’12 put together a man-of-the-match performance at right fullback, shutting down most everyone that came his way, and even sliding to the center of the field in support of his teammates.
It was not the strongest showing this year for the Boys JV team, but today’s effort proved to be enough to pull out a win over a solid opponent. The Wolf Pack will try to bring an improved showing to this coming Saturday’s (10/15) game against Portsmouth Abbey School, at Pomfret School.
