Putnam Science Academy – 12
Last Tuesday the Hyde School Boys Junior Varsity Soccer Team encountered an extraordinarily strong opponent, and as a result the Wolfpack was not able to carry the victory from its first game. This was a tough battle for Hyde. Even though our players demonstrated strong effort and drive, the outcome of the game was disappointing and it showed that we still have a lot of room for improvements.
The game was a reality check for the Wolfpack. Even though Hyde worked diligently on developing better 50-50 balls and long/short passes, both the offense and defense can work on communication, running speed, and physical endurance. Standouts included Paul Pan’12, Joseph Su’ 12, Gavin Rudolph ’15, Joey Fan (’13), and Joe Guerin ’14. Paul Pan models rigor for the Boys Junior Varsity Soccer Team. He not only is a versatile player, but also gives his one hundred percent in every game. Joseph Su is a varsity soccer player, but he asked to play with the Junior Varsity Team to improve his skills. He had incredible throws and demonstrates leadership potential on the field. Gavin Rudolph played relentlessly throughout the whole game regardless of the outcome. Both Joey Fan and Joe Guerin are valuable strikers.
Looking forward, the Wolfpack will need to maintain its spirit while working to improve its synergy, communication, and various soccer skills, which will take both practice and patience.
