Bath: Women’s JV Soccer vs. Hebron

Hebron        1

Hyde            0

The Hyde JV Lady Phoenix hosted Hebron Academy on the Gym field earlier today for a close soccer match ending with Hebron on top by one.  Both teams fought hard for the first half with several offensive opportunities shut down by the corresponding defense, including a Hebron penalty kick saved by goal keeper Sofia Beishline ’12 after a Hyde hand ball in the box. The energy was high coming off the field at half time, both teams feeling that a win was within reach.  Despite Hyde’s impressive defensive effort, ten minutes into the second half a Hebron player found the back of the net, scoring the only goal of the game.  Hyde morale was down after the goal, but the team was able to rally for the final ten minutes of the game, but unfortunately the buzzer sounded too soon for the phoenix.  Standouts include Purple Zhao ’13 who refused to give up and Wang Xi (Susan)’14 who is improving with every game she plays.   The Ladies are excited to face Hebron again next week, and are gearing up for a game against Freeport this Friday on the turf field.
