Boys JV Soccer vs Marianapolis

Hyde – 8
Marianapolis – 1

The Boys junior varsity soccer team had a great showing this afternoon away at Marianapolis, winning 8 – 1.  Goals came from six different players, including Wenying WangGavin RudolphYiren JiangJoey Fan, and Kevin Ding.  Joe Guerin put an exclamation point on the win by putting together a hat trick over two halves of play, one of which came from a smartly taken penalty smashed in the upper left corner.  The set up to Guerin’s first goal was particularly savvy.  Paul Pan slid a ball up to Jiang, whose pass to Guerin split the defense, requiring only a tap-in.

As could be expected, the team effort was what made all of the scoring chances possible.  Walker Corley, and Rudolph patrolled up and down the flanks, creating chances while also frequently tracking back to shore up the defense when needed.  The defense was solid throughout, with standout “Leaders of the Pack” performances from Pan and Nick Davis, who posted a shutout in half as goalkeeper.  The two of them each proved to be vocal leaders on the field and showed great effort in holding Marianapolis scoreless through the first half.  All in all, it was a performance to be very proud of.  The Wolf Pack looks forward to its next game Wednesday, September 21 at Putnam Science.
