Wolfpack 3rds Basketball Falls a Bit Short vs. Marianapolis

3rds Basketball vs. Marianapolis

Hyde                 36
Marianapolis   44

The Boys 3rds Basketball team took on Marianapolis on Saturday, in an effort to avenge a loss earlier in the season. The boys executed the game plan perfectly, but fell a bit short at the end of the game. Apache “The Dragon” He ‘12 led the Wolfpack in scoring with 13 points, and the most tenacious defense I have seen from any one player on any team this season. Trevor “Down Low” Braxton-Barto ‘12 was a monster on the boards pulling down 19 rebounds, and Ben “B.T.” Tatro ‘12 played some great 2nd half minutes and came up a bit short on a few beautiful shots.

In our previous meeting, we surrendered 30 points to their best player. The Dragon and Danny “Dueces” Gill ’13 were assigned to follow Marianapolis player #13 around everywhere he went as we shifted into our “Box and 1”  defense. The end result was #13 scoring just 3 points (all on free throws) and getting so frustrated by the end of the game that he committed a technical foul and was thrown out of the game. Our boys disengaged from the altercation and kept cool heads. Brian “All Day” O’Dea ’14 showed a warriors mentality by fighting through some back spasms to play key 2nd half minutes and threw up a beautiful floater from the foul line to keep the game close late.

The Pack fell to 3-4 on  the season but we have 2 home games left to finish the season with a winning record. We play tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 vs. Valley View at HOME!! If you are on campus, come out and support these guys. Don’t hesitate to make signs in support of them, visual aids are intimidating for the opposition!!
