Proudest Moment: Having raised my three children to be people of character, make a difference in the world and honor their unique potential.
Life Goal: Write a children’s book and help start a school in Zambia, Africa.
Why Hyde: I love working with students and parents who have high expectations, want to live a life of purpose, and value a community who believes in their best.
I Teach: All of the five words (Courage, Integrity, Leadership, Curiosity and Concern) apply to being an effective parent, but perhaps the one that best expresses the possibility and potential in any great family is Curiosity. Do we want to know who we are at the deepest level? Do we want to know what we are capable of thinking, feeling, achieving and believing? How can we become better people – better parents, better spouses, better workers or better friends?
When children see us as parents as ‘learners’ rather than ‘knowers’, we can earn their respect and admiration. Parenting is a tough job. We don’t have to be perfect -we just need to do our best. Striving for that best self is a life-long journey and curiosity helps us take each new step. I enjoy helping families discover the possibilities, and always learn about myself along the way.
