Wolfpack vs. St. Georges, February 4th, 2011
Hyde-51, St. George’s-52
On Friday the Hyde Wolfpack traveled to St. Georges where the game was played in a loud and very intense gym. The game started out very intensely, both teams traded the lead and St. Georges took a little advantage, but Hyde didn’t let them keep it, and quickly made up the deficit to give them a one point lead going into half.
The second half started out much like the first. Both teams continued battling and Hyde held onto a narrow two, to four point lead throughout the second half. Chad Bryant went on a streak of 3 three pointers in a row, but each basket was quickly answered by St. Georges. In the final minutes of the game St. Georges took a one point lead and Hyde had one final possession to win the game, and two missed shots sealed the deal and St. George came out with a one point win. The final Score was Hyde 51, St. Georges 52.
Some standouts for the game included Chad Bryant who made five threes in a row and had a total of 15 points. Mike Cannon put up 12. Jalen Hill and Jahvaney Beckford each had 10 points.
Wolfpack vs. Lee Academy, February 5th, 2011
On Saturday Hyde had their first home game in 11 games, unfortunately It was against Lee Academy. Lee Academy came out looking big, but Hyde wasn’t intimidated. The wolfpack came out strong and surprised many people exchanging the lead with the powerhouse team all through the first half, and at halftime were only down by 8,the score was Hyde 39, Lee 47.
The second half was a completely different story. Lee Academy stepped it up and started going on big runs throughout the second to increase the deficit. Hyde still played well and were able to keep some momentum, but unfortunately Lee just couldn’t be stopped, and the final score was Hyde 77, Lee 110.
Some standouts inlcuded Jahvaney Beckford who had an incredible game with 27 points, 11 assists, and 5 rebounds. Jalen Hill had an impressive 18 points, and Mike Cannon had 11 points.
Wolfpack vs. Wheeler, February 9th, 2011
The losing streak is over! After losing their last seven games, the Wolfpack finally prodocued a win against Wheeler. Both teams came into the game with little energy, both struggling to score, and forcing bad shots. Turnovers, and mistakes where the definition of the first half and the score at halftime was Hyde 16, Wheeler 15.
The second half was a lot different, the wolfpack finally found life and started preasuring the Wheeler offense, coming up with good defensive stops. The offense also came out with a lot of intensity taking the ball right through the Wheeler defense, almost at will. The final score of the game was Hyde 43, Wheeler 35.
Some standouts for the game included Jahvaney Beckford who was easily able to drive through the lane and either get fouled or produce layups, and he finished with 17 points. Jalen Hill also had an impressive game producing 12 points.
