The Hyde Phoenix Varsity Wrestlers have done a great deal of wrestling in the last week and a half!  In that span we have wrestled 9 teams, and complete our dual meet season with a record of 3 – 12 .

On Wednesday 19 January, Hyde traveled to Exeter, NH to compete against Phillips Exeter and Governor’s Academy.  The Phoenix came up short in both contests.  On Saturday 22 January, we made the long trip to Northfield, MA to face Northfield – Mount Hermon, Wilbraham and Munson Academy, Tilton School, and Choate- Rosemary Hall.  This was a long day of competitive wrestling and the growth and toughness of our team was on display.  Congratulations to sophomore Austin Wang (112), sophomore 125 Zach Leighninger, junior 145 Alec Randall, junior Scott Bartlett (160), and junior 152 Scott Georgaklis for earning their first victories of the season!

Despite several forfeits, the Phoenix earned a dominating victory against WMA!

On 30 January, the Phoenix finished the dual meet season in a quad meet at Lexington Christian Academy.  We faced off against host LCA, Avon – Old Farms, and Class A League opponent Worcester Academy.  Hyde lost a closely contested match to LCA, fell to Avon, and wrestled to a win against Worcester.  Two wrestlers emerged from the meet with 3-0 records on the day: junior 171 Chester Hill and senior captain Chip Wohlstetter (285)!  Congratulations on your well earned victories!
