Hyde-Woodstock – 24
Pomfret – 56

Hyde-Woodstock hosted the defending New England Class B champions.  Pomfret proved to be too strong for the wolf pack.  We were outmatched on both ends of the floor.  Hyde did show signs of improvement at points in the first half moving the ball well offensively.  However, they did not have the experience to sustain the effort.  The score at halftime was 31-12.  Ten of Pomfret’ s twelve players scored in the game.  Hyde is still struggling to score consistently and get more players to share the scoring load.  The scoring was as follows; Katherine Hagood ’13 1-0-2, Becca Katz ’12 1-0-3, Lara Cornelius ’11 2-0-4, Mari Barnett ’11 2-1-5, Andrea Crute ’12 4-2-10.  Hyde plays Williams on Wednesday in a league match up.

Hyde-Woodstock – 27
Williams – 16

Hyde faced Williams in a league match up.  The team has been working on teamwork and effort this week in practice.  Once again the wolf pack struggled with consistency on the offensive end and effort on the defensive end.  Hyde went into halftime down by two points.  During halftime the team talked about effort and its importance which paid dividends in the second half.  Andrea Crute ’12 came out firing on all cylinders she scored 15 of her 17 points  including three three pointers.  The team got behind her effort and worked harder on both ends of the floor.  It was good to get a win in league play.  The scoring was as follows; Katherine Hagood ’13 1-0-2, Lara Cornelius ’11 3-2-8, and Andrea Crute’12 led all scorers with 7-0-17. The team plays St. Andrews on Saturday also a league game.

Hyde-Woodstock Girls Varsity Basketball vs. St. Andrews

Hyde-Woodstock – 13
St. Andrews – 48

Hyde hosted St. Andrews at home in league play.  St. Andrews has solid guard and post play which made them extremely tough to match up against.  The wolf pack was missing two key guards which made moving the ball on offense tough.  But the team moved forward and there was improvement in terms of their effort on both ends of the floor.  Unfortunately, they were only able to score one point in the first half.  During halftime composure on offense was discussed and the importance of working together to not turning the ball over.  The second half was better in terms of scoring.  Junior Becca Katz scored all seven of her points in  the second half.  The scoring was as follows; Mari Barnett ’11 1-0-1, Katherine Hagood ’13 1-0-2, Lara Cornelius ’11 0-3-3, and Becca Katz ’12 3 – 1-7.  The wolf pack faces Falmouth on Wednesday.
