At Hyde School
Hyde School – 0
Marianapolis Preparatory School – 0
With parents crowding the sidelines on a beautiful fall afternoon, the Hyde School Girls Varsity Soccer Team fumbled through 80 minutes of play to tie Marianapolis Preparatory School in a rematch of an earlier season game that favored the WolfPack. Though the Hyde team outshot its opponent 16-11, Marianapolis became only the second team during the 2010 season to keep the WolfPack off the scoreboard completely.
Hyde saw great midfield play from Rianna Arellano ’12, whose vision of the field never fails to impress the sideline, and Mari Barnett ’11, who consistently supports her teammates both offensively and defensively. Marcy Altobello ’13 also showed her improved level of play, supporting the offensive efforts of Bryn Nolan ’12, Sarah DeNunzio ’11, and Hope Eldridge ’11. The defensive trio of Becca Katz ’12, Camryn Bindra ’13, and Caitlyn Colley ’11 remained steady and composed to keep almost all of Marianapolis’s shots on goal coming from outside the 18 yard box. Hyde goalie Lara Cornelius ’11 also showed her skill development, picking up 11 saves.
The WolfPack hopes to elevate its level of play and reconnect to the teamwork and ball movement that led to success earlier in the season. Hyde will be put to the test to do so facing strong SENE opponent Lincoln School this Wednesday October 27 at Lincoln.
