Men’s Junior Varsity Soccer Recap Week #6

10-13                     Hyde School           3

                             Gould Academy       5

Gould Academy traveled to Bath to play the Phoenix last Wednesday.  When last they played, Gould won 6-0.  This game however was much improved in terms of both effort and the intensity with which Hyde played.  Gould led the match at the half two goals to one.  Hyde started the second half with a nicely placed shot by Nicky Li to tie the game.  Jack Xu slotted a penalty kick to go up a goal with thirty minutes remaining in the match.  However, Gould scored on a penalty kick with ten minutes remaining and scored a final goal with only minutes left on the clock.  Despite this, the Phoenix maintained their composure and played hard until the final whistle.  Notable Standouts included Brian Lou at right outside midfield and Evan Preece who played a central midfield position.

10-16                     Hyde Bath             3

                             Hyde Woodstock    0

Hyde School Woodstock traveled from Connecticut on Saturday to play the Phoenix for Fall Family Weekend.  Hyde Bath set the tone early by working hard and playing an aggressive yet controlled style of soccer.  Jack Xu scored the first goal for Bath at the twenty-five minute mark.  The score would remain 1-0 until after the half.  Just nine minutes into the second half, Evan Preece had a beautiful goal from just outside the box.  The third and final goal was scored by Captain Conor Ketchum with a header off a corner kick.  Notable Standouts included James Allen who played winger, Cliff Bauman at central midfield and Paxton Hansard who earned his first shutout at keeper.
