Hyde Woodstock- 6
Windsor, CT- A beautiful morning for football , the Wolfpack ventured out to face a brand new team to our season, Loomis-Chaffee. Their team looked sharp for a freshman squad and it took a while for the grogginess of the hour and long bus ride to wear off. We struggled with keeping our cool on the field and in working with the same unity that we showed against KO and in practice.
As a highlight on the day, Pablo Miranda ’11 took the reigns as QB for a spell and completed a 20 yard pass to Sean Preston ’12, which set up an easy path in to the end zone for Peter Markham ’13 behind a young but scrappy line consisting of Lincoln Sherman ’11, Jackson Bender ’13, Alex Underwood ’12, John White ’14, Julian Goldenberg ’13, John Nelson ’14, Marcus LaGuardia ’14, Jihu ‘Walter’ Kim ’12, and Aaron Miller ’12 and our fullback, team captain Ben Errera ’13. Lincoln Sherman ’11 also experienced something unexpected when he fielded the on-sides kick from Loomis-Chaffee late in the 3rd quarter and got it to our 47 yard line.
As ever, it was the Defense that kept us in and began to set the tone of the game. Linebacker Greg Dulka ’12, and defensive tackle John White ’14 were the defensive stars, stepping up to make big plays in the trenches.
Next week we face St. George’s Dragons in Newport, RI on Wednesday and look forward to testing our resolve with the lessons learned today.
