Hyde – 0
Hebron Academy – 4
The Phoenix eagerly boarded the bus to face Hebron for the second time this season. The team was optimistic having tied 2-2 the previous week at home. The Hebron team proved a much different opponent this time around. Hyde was able to hold them off for 12 minutes before the Lumberjacks found the back of the net. Sweeper Alyssa Thomas ’11 and marking back Jane Miller ’11 both played an incredibly tough game. Hebron was able to score again at the 19 minute mark but was not able to break the spirit of the Hyde team. The remainder of the first half was hard fought, no goals were allowed and the half ended 2-0, Hebron. The second half was only slightly different with Hyde getting three shots on net. Forward Amy Ginsberg ’13 worked hard to break through the Hebron defense largely chasing down through balls forwarded by the tireless mid-field hustle of senior captain Sage Harris ’11. Late in the game Hebron was able to slide two more shots into the goal making the final score 4-0. With her debut in goal, the outstanding player of the game was Laughlynn Bragg ’12 who stepped up to fill in for senior Mali Perry ’12. Bragg had 18 saves and defended 10 corner kicks. Under constant pressure, she played an incredible game in goal.
