Hyde – 1
Hebron Academy – 4
MJVS traveled to Hebron Academy on Saturday. When Hyde last played the Lumberjacks they lost handedly 7-0. The week leading up to the game was marked with intense practices that focused on maintaining possession of the ball through accurate passing, and spreading the field to create space for players to move to, thereby creating more passing opportunities. Hyde played with grit and determination from the first whistle. Hebron scored first twenty minutes into the game off a penalty kick; the result of a handball in the box. However, Jack Xu from Hyde countered with a pretty goal that went over the head of the Hebron Keeper, knotting it at 1-1 just before the half. Hyde’s defense faltered briefly at the start of the second half and Hebron slotted two quick goals in the first ten minutes. The Hyde lads regained their composure and created some good scoring opportunities, but came up short. Hebron scored their final goal with fifteen minutes remaining. Notable standouts for Hyde included Paxton Hansard in goal, Nicky Li at striker and Evan Preece in the midfield. Though the outcome of the game wasn’t what they had hoped for, the lads made a match of it and showed marked improvement over the last time they faced this team.
