Boys JV Soccer Review

Hyde – 0
Hebron – 7

This past Wednesday, the JV Boys Soccer team hosted MAISAD opponent Hebron. On a beautiful fall day, the boys took the pitch with nerves flying as they glanced across the half circle at Hebron’s squad made up of off season hockey players. Hebron started their scoring spree 15 minutes into the game off a free kick from 20 yards out that deflected off a Hyde defender into the back of the net. By the end of the first half, Hebron had control of the game and Hyde was fumbling to find an answer. The second half was a different story. The boys rallied together and played their hearts out for 40 minutes. Player of the game goes to James Allen ’12 who did an excellent job in his first game after taking over as goalie. Other standouts include Brian Edwards ’14 and Jack Xu ’14.

Gould –  6

On Saturday the JV boys took a trip through the colorful Maine foliage to face MAISAD opponent Gould on a brisk fall afternoon. Gould started the scoring early in the first half netting 4 goals before the halftime whistle. Once again, the boys rallied in the second half controlling the ball in Gould’s half of the field and almost scoring on several occasions. Although they could not find the back of the net, they displayed a great deal of pride, fighting until the last whistle. Ian Andolsek ’13 earned player of the game honors for his outstanding work ethic, bringing meaning to the phrase “leave it all on the field”. Other standouts include Conor Ketchum ’12 and Ben Fusco ’14 for their aggressive defense and Cliff Bauman ’13 for his dazzling footwork in the midfield.
